alley to church

Comments:
I know this alley! My son and I were down here recently, and he was like "is it okay, is it okay?" thank good ness for that light up there.

Just found your blog through DC-ist and wanted to let you know I think these pictures are great. I was about to comment on just this picture to say how much I liked it, but then I scrolled down and saw too many others that I also liked, so I think I'll just leave one comment here and let you know I'll keep checking back for more!

thanks - I have this book on the old alley dwellings of D.C. and that is where I found out about the area.

My Mother and I (native Washingtonians) have been trying to research alley dwelling between 1900 and 1935. My grandmother lived in one called Brooks Court. There was mention of a book...can you provide more information; author etc.

The book is Alley Life in Washington; Family, Community, Religion, and Folklife in the City, 1850-1970. By James Borchert.
